look [it] up

Walking down the street, eschewing the car for once, in search of warm fresh bagels with the littlest of the bunnies, we hear a woodpecker tap-tap-tapping in a nearby tree.

“What does a woodpecker look like?” she said.

“I don’t know,” I replied, and without thinking much added, “We’ll have to look it up.”

Immediately the irony of what I was saying made me laugh, and I picked her up and pointed up into the sky.

“Actually, we’ll have to lookup!”

Kind of like checking the weather on your iphone to see if it’s raining while you’re standing outside getting drenched.
